Ramadan atmosphere in Iran: Photos

Muslims across the world are observing Ramadan, but fasting month has special taste in Iran.

Muslims in Iran and across the world are currently observing Ramadan, but the fasting month has a special taste in the Islamic Republic.

Shortly before the sunset prayer, people start shopping for the evening meal “iftar” and buy fresh bread and sweets such as zoulbia and bamieh.

During Ramadan, some worshippers also go to mosques and holy sites to recite the Holy Quran and make supplications to Allah.

Ramadan also sees charitable people distributing free food among others, especially the needy.

During the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims abstain from eating and drinking from sunrise to sunset.

The worshippers break their fast with the evening meal “iftar”.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is the month when the first verses of the Holy Quran were revealed to Islam’s Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The act of fasting in the holy month of Ramadan is aimed at reminding people of the impoverished people and their suffering.
